LOVE YOUR FAMILY WEEK
What is LYFW?
This one week challenge is all about intentionality. Family life in the 21st Century often looks over scheduled, overstimulated, tech-tethered, and socially disconnected. Obligations pull parents and kids towards work, school, practices, chores & household tasks, not to mention unexpected events that disrupt what routines a family may try to stick to. With all the distraction of living (surviving??) in those moments, it can become a struggle to keep connected to each other and rooted in Christ.
That’s why DBKids is challenging parents, guardians, and kids to spend one week carving out time to spend with each other. Even a small amount of intentional time helps build & maintain the relationships we care about so dearly. God has called us to love one another, and that starts at home. Hit pause on the things that complete for your family’s attention and focus on each other. Using the provided guide as a starting point, you’ll plan a week of dedicated time to love one another well. Consider this a “building block” to foster the relationships in your home in a God-honoring way.
How it Works:
1. The pledge!
We would LOVE to know your family has taken the Love Your Family Week Pledge! Committing to the challenge helps build excitement for your family (your doing it TOGETHER!) and boosts your chances of sticking with it.
2. The guide!
Life can be crazy, which is why DBKids aims to offer a buffet of resources easy to tailor to your family. The yearly guide can be viewed online or picked up in person from DBKids. Our dates for LYFW don’t work your family, that’s OK! Pick another week that does— you can still take the pledge.
Inside the guide you’ll find an introduction, daily activity planners, and parent devotionals. Additionally, you’ll find lots of activity suggestions based on various developmental stages. This week is about your family, so make the times and activities functional for your unique household needs. Remember to plan ahead of time! Preparations will reduce stress and give everyone something to look forward to.
Lastly, use LYFW to create new habits of intentionality throughout the year and in your daily life.
3. Kick-off!
2026 marks our second year challenging families to take the Love Your Family Week pledge. To help celebrate, DBKids will host a Family Date Night to kick-off LYFW on February 6th.
Registration coming soon!
4. Feedback!
DBKids wants to equip parents and guardians to feel comfortable and empowered as the shepherds in their homes. We have big plans to continue creating “building blocks” to help families in two ways:
1. Build deep relationships with each other
2. Form the foundation necessary for kids to become genuine followers of Christ
Please share your thoughts (both critiques and praises) HERE so we can continue to develop the tools your family needs.
